Paraphrase

Letter of Marduk-šumu-uṣur (a sender not from Uruk) to Nabû-aḫu-iddin (Royal Overseer, ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti) (NAI), “his father”, suggesting to bring good and clean figs for the divine meal (offering) (naptanu) and hand them over to the recipient’s messenger where the sender is at in exchange for good wool. He also informs the recipient that the children of Šurānu (Š), a horse handler (šušānu) of the storehouse (nakkandu) have fled to where the recipient is (very likely Uruk) and that he has come to get them. The recipient should make sure that Š can lead his children away without anybody interfering. In closing, he asks for NAI’s decision on the suggested barter trade to be conveyed via Š (who will return to where the sender is with his children and can therefore also function as a messenger).
