Letter of Ea-[…] to Nabû-aḫu-iddin (Royal Overseer, ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti) (NAI), “his lord” (appellation only in the greeting formula, not in the introduction), about a house sale in which the sender bought a house from Bāniya/Šamaˀ (B) in Uruk, but NAI contested the sale. The sender then released the house, but it burned down. When he returned to it, B had taken possession of the house again. The sender then states that B received a letter from NAI, which B showed him in (tp)Udannu on the 21st of m.XII. The letter ordered the sender not to litigate against B. After being shown this message, the sender took two of B’s slaves (amīlūtu) captive, but B had already gone to Babylon. The sender now demands a contract for the house to be delivered to him, threatening to keep the slaves (amīlūtu) prisoner if he does not receive it because this will lead to B suing NAI.
