Paraphrase

Letter of Lâbâši (L) to Balāṭu (Keeper of the Royal Box in Eanna) (B), “his father”, assuring the recipient that the sender prayed on his behalf instead of going to Babylon. As the recipient did not hear from him, he sent Iqīša/[PN1] and Pirˀu/Bēl-aḫu-iddin to him. He then discusses 5;0 of barley, which the recipient should take from someone where the recipient is, then send this man with a message to L and he will then give him the barley (where the sender is at, avoiding detailed logistics and possibly transport costs). L asks B to talk with Šamaš-aḫu-iddin (ŠAI), who is going to (tp)Susa, on his behalf and inform him about it. He also wants B to ask ŠAI that no-one is negligent (lā šelû) concerning [PN2]. He mentions that the […-men] of the (City) Governor (šākin ṭēmi) have been set free, which is why the service (palāḫu) due to this governor and the watchposts is a lot and the sender does not have men available for it, so he was hampered and could not let (them) go upstream. Should ŠAI go to (tp)Susa, B should talk to him and record everything he tells him in a letter for ŠAI so that the information cannot be withheld (la [i-ka]-lu-uˀ).
