Paraphrase

Letter of Šamaš-šumu-l[īšir] (ŠŠL) to the High Priest (of Eanna, šatammu) and to Nabû-a[ḫu-iddin] (Royal Overseer, ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti), "his lords", about a barley shipment to (tp)Bāb-Ḫarri-ša-Marduk-aplu-iddin. After they arrived there with the shipment, ŠŠL heard a rumor that 300 ships (sapinātu) were going upstream. He therefore went back to (tp)Gadijatu and sent a messenger to his lords and requests to hear their orders quickly (kapdu). ŠŠL then reports a nightly theft from the ship in (tp)Bāb-Ḫarri(-ša-Marduk-aplu-iddin), when the harbormaster (rab kāri) boarded the ship with 20 men and unlawfully (šigiltu) took 1 KUR.RA-garment, 1 šir’am coat, 1 iron dagger and 3 shekels of silver. The sender states that he wants to write to Bēl-ibni//Ibāya because of this as their rights were clearly infringed in (tp)Bāb-Ḫarri(-ša-Marduk-aplu-iddin) (pirku dabābu).
