Letter of Nabû-aḫu-iddin (NAI) (Royal Overseer, ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti) to the High Priest (šatammu, Nabû-mukīn-apli/Nādinu//Dābibī), "his brother", about difficulties with digging work and the complete depletion of the silver and wool NAI had with him as wages for hired workers. NAI therefore urgently (kapdu) requests that a scribe bring him 20 minas of silver and wool worth 10 minas of silver. NAI stresses how bad things are for going at this site (ba-ˀelāhīn/ˀelāhē). He demands that Gimillu/Innin-šumu-ibni (G) (ša muḫḫi rēḫāni, overseer of the remainders) is put in fetters so that 30 minas of silver are obtained from him from the herdsmens’ arrears (rēḫu), and if this fails, G should be sent to NAI who will then take care of this matter. NAI reminds the High Priest of the importance of the deliveries (to the palace in (tp)Abanu in the Sealand) (lā šelû). He requests that the gardeners of the temple fields are found and sent to him. NAI adds that he has no allowances (kurummatu) for the workers of the cattle shed of Eanna and requests their inspection (documents) (amirtu) and travel provisions. He also asks for Amurru-šarru-uṣur (/Talīmu) (royal Aramaic scribe, sēpiru ša šarri/ša (ina) Eanna (paqdu)) and one scribe to hand (the requested goods) to the hired workers.
