Itti-Šamaš-balaṭu (IŠB), a thief, made a statement that he and Šamšāya/Bānia (Š) took (tabālu) silver from the silver income (erbu) of the (tp)Place of Light (kizalāqu) of Uṣur-amassu and that Lūmur-dumqi-Ištar (LDI), the official (bēl piqitti) of the temple of Uṣur-amassu, saw (amāru) them with the silver in the hands of IŠB. Š told LDI not to say (qabû) anything about the silver in the hands of IŠB. However, LDI told them to put the silver back in the chest (quppu), and IŠB put it back.
LDI was later questioned and made a statement that he had not seen IŠB together with Š or seen the silver in Š’s hands. He added that he had once seen Š (name restored in a break) standing in the courtyard of the temple of Uṣur-amassu together with IŠB and with silver in his hands.
When LDI saw him, he asked him whether the silver was his tithe (ešru). Š answered that a woman had given it to him. LDI then told him to put it back, and Š returned it, after which LDI put it back in the chest.
