Duplicate of YOS 6 79

Testimony regarding the temple oblate status of a sold slave woman.

The tablet records a deposition made before 7 freemen (mār banê):

Nabû-šarru-uṣur, the Royal Overseer of Eanna (ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti), Gabbi-ilī-šarru-uṣur, Royal Resident (qīpu) of Eanna; Nabû-šumu-ukīn/Nabû-ēṭir-napšāti//Bābūtu; Šullum/Aḫulapia//Egibi; Rēmūtu-Bēl/Nabû-zēru-iddin//Atkuppu; Balāssu/Rēmūtu//Ileˀi-Marduk; Apkallu//Nergal-nāṣir//Išparu;

Bēl-uballiṭ/Mušallim-Marduk//Gimil-Nanāya testifies (qabû) concerning (f)Ḫuzaziti (H), a slave woman (qallatu) belonging to Ina-tēšê-ēṭir/Mušallim-Marduk//Gimil-Nanāya (ITE), his brother. He states that ITE placed (nadû) a star (kakkabtu) and a mark (arratu) on H’s hand (rittu) and dedicated her as temple oblate (ana širkūti nadānu) to (ana) the Lady-of-Uruk. However, she was subsequently (illegally) sold (ana kaspi nadānu) to Ibnāya/Nabû-ēṭer. The text does not specify by whom.

No witnesses recorded, the scribe: Innin-mukīn-apli/Zēria

Note:

Bēl-uballiṭ/Mušallim-Marduk//Gimil-Nanāya may be identical with the Elder Brother mentioned in YOS 6 77.
