Promissory note for barley.

The document starts by stating that B owes barley (1;1.1.3 kor, c. 225 liters) to A and continues by stipulating the terms for repayment. It is agreed that he will deliver it at the entrance to the the harvest collection point (ina bāb kalakki) in the 3rd month, i.e. at the next barley harvest. The document is written on the 9th of the 9th month, i.e. about 6 months before the delivery date. The debtor undertakes to pay the capital amount and a 20% surplus (lit., 0;2.0 kor per kor of indebted barley, or 36 liters per 180 liters). It could be interpreted as interest, although the word for interest is not explicitly used. Names of 2 witnesses and the scribe.

A = Bēl-šarru-uṣur/Nubaya; B= Ṣidqī-Yāw/Šillem
