Promissory note for barley.

The document starts by stating that B owes barley (7;2.3 kor, c. xxx liters) to A and continues by stipulating the terms for repayment. It is agreed that he will deliver it at the entrance to the the harvest collection point (ina bāb kalakki) in the 3rd month, i.e. at the next barley harvest. The document is written on the 16th of the 9th month, i.e. about 6 months before the delivery date. The debtor undertakes to pay the capital amount and a 20% surplus (lit., 0;2.0 kor per kor of indebted barley, or 36 liters per 180 liters). It could be interpreted as interest, although the word for interest is not explicitly used. B received the barley in the form of seeds (zēru) but will pay it back to A  in barley from the profits (utru) of his arable land (zēru). Names of 3 witnesses and the scribe: Nabû-uṣur/Nabû-zēru-iqīša.

A = Yāhū-šarru-uṣur/Nubāya; B= Ṣidqī-Yāw/Šillem
