Description
In the final months of the project’s working period, DigEanna will present its principal findings, especially its overall view of the nature of the Archive, within the context of a workshop in Jena that will invite scholars studying administrative archives from other periods of Ancient Near Eastern history including Elam as well as from Ancient Egypt and Papyrology and from the Mycenean world. We will also seek input from Ottoman and Mamluk specialists, and we will have one day of the workshop set aside for an interdisciplinary session on the reach of administrations into peasant life in pre-modern states and on the exercise of power and violence in this
respect. The proceedings of this workshop will be published in a separate themed and open-access fascicle of the journal Welt des Orients.
