Duplicate of YOS 6 71 (the obverse of YOS 6 72 is partly damaged.)

Nabû-šarru-uṣur (NŠU), the Royal Overseer of the Eanna (rēš šarri bēl piqitti) said to 16 indivuals (the list is provided below), who are the Babylonians, the Urukeans, the elders, the temple enterers (ērib bīti) and members of the assembly of the Eanna (kiništu), that the son of the king sent instructions (šipirtu šapāru) concerning two kusītu-garments coming from the ones of Nanāya of Ezida (arādu) and destined (alāku) for the Lady of Uruk and Nanāya. Since one of the garments was said to have been delivered to the Lady of Uruk (litt. The Lady who resided in Uruk), he requested clarification (ḫarāṣu + šapāru +qabû) as to why the other was being withheld (kalû).

The Babylonians, the Urukeans, the elders, the temple enterers, and the assembly of Eanna replied to NŠU, the Royal Overseer, that no kusītu-garment had ever been given from Uruk to Bēltia. The only exception occurred during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, when Mušēzib-Marduk, the temple administrator (šapir Ekurrāti), gave one. There was opposition (ṭerdu šakānu) concerning the matter, and when Nebuchadnezzar heard of it, he withheld it (kalû).

Likewise, in the time of Neriglissar, when one was given for the first time, Neriglissar, upon hearing of it, withheld it.

Furthermore, in the first year of Nabonidus, king of Babylon, when a man from the city of Bēltia spoke to the king at (tp)Larsa concerning the matter, the king spared the man who had addressed him, but he did not say: “Give!”
