Paraphrase

Letter of Ileˀˀi-Marduk (IM) to the High Priest (of Eanna, šatammu) and Nabû-aḫu-iddin (Royal Overseer, ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti), "his lords", emphatically complaining (ina ikkibi ša ilāni) that birds are feeding on large quantities of barley, and that therefore the barley is perishing (ḫalāqu). IM requests that someone be sent so that IM can measure what is left of the barley and give it to that person. IM also states that he will pay the expenses for barley coming to him himself. Another man, Gūzānu (G), does not agree (to take this contaminated barley) and therefore does not act, so the sender suggests that he, himself, will sell cassia to buy barley for G. With regard to the amount of barley that the recipients had established for the allotment (period) for sacrificial commodities and priestly remuneration (maššartu) as well as the cattle shed, he informs the recipients that G only brought 300;0 of it, and that G did not comply when IM told him to measure and deposit the barley and then to carry it away.
