Nabû-šarru-uṣur (NŠU), the Royal Overseer of Eanna (rēš šarri bēl piqitti), conducted an interrogation (mašʾaltu) concerning a theft committed by Marduk/Nabû-zēru-iddin of the city of (tp)Ipaltiru and Bēl-aḫu-iddin/Nanāya-ēreš. They were accused of having dishonestly taken three ewes and one lamb of Šamaš-šumu-iddin/Šulāya from the herd of Nergal-īpuš/Nabû-zēru-iqīša (NI), the herdsman (nāqidu) of Eanna, from (tp)Bīt-lugal-banda during the night of the 30th day of m.IV. One ewe was slaughtered in the house of Nanāya-iddin/Attār-rāmat (NID), a novice oblate (zakītu), in Uruk.
NI brought from the house of NID a hide (šiḫṭu), a bronze-brazier (mušaḫḫinu), the remaining 2 ewes and 1 lamb alive, and presented them in the Eanna.
When questioned by NŠU, the accused admitted that they had taken the animals at night and slaughtered one ewe, stating that NID had accompanied them with the intention of selling the livestock (passage partly broken.).
NŠU subsequently returned the two ewes and the lamb to Itti-Anu-balāṭu/Šamaš-šumu-iddin, the owner of the animals, and deposited the hide and the bronze brazier in the Eanna, in the granary (bīt karê).
