Paraphrase

Letter of Kalbaya (possibly /Iqīša//Basia, rent farmer, ša muḫḫi sūti) to Nādinu (/Bēl-aḫḫē-Iqīša//Egibi), and Kīnaya (= Ištar-mukīn-apli/Zēria) (both temple scribes, ṭupšarru ša Eanna), “his brothers”, complaining about his high workload and requesting two freeman (mār banî) to finish the work (on their stretch of canal) with slaves (lamutānu) and worrying about a man who will complain about the missing canal outlet and tell them that they should dig the canal with him.

Legacy Paraphrase

Kalbāya writes to “his brothers” Nādinu and Kināya (scribes of Eanna in years Nbn. 12–Cyr. 04), invoking the Lady of Uruk and Nanāya in his blessing. He complains that the work for the Lady of Uruk is hard and requests that 2 freemen (mār banî) be selected (amāru) to finish the work with slaves (lamutu). The work above and below (e-lu-nu-ú u šupalû) is now finished, but a visitor from Akkad will come and … (ṭarādu) that there is no outlet (ṣītu), requesting that the canal […].
