The topic of the text is alum from (tp)Kašappu. Lāqipu, a boatman, brought (našû) some as a gift (erbu) of the crown prince (mār šarri), Bēl-šarru-uṣur, in Babylon from (ina qāt) Nabû-ṣābit-qātē, the estate manager (rab bīti). Part of it was sold (maḫāru) for silver to Marduk-šumu-iddin, the Governor (šākin ṭēmi).
