Nabû-aḫu-uṣur/Ḫatāma (NAU) asked Ili-natannu/Bara-ili, the brother of (f)Talā-Uruk (TU) and her mother (f)Bānītu, to give TU to him as wife. They consented, and TU became his wife.
If NAU leaves TU or brings another woman into his house, he must give TU 6 minas of silver, and she will be free to marry a mār banê (divorce clause). The contract also includes the iron dagger clause in case TU commits adultery.
6 witnesses and the scribe Šamaš-iddin/Nabû-aḫḫē-ēreš
Notes
The names of two witnesses were added on the left edge after the redaction of the contract.
The fact that the parties of the contract bore West Semitic names may explain why the contract found its way into the Eanna temple.
