Paraphrase | Statement under oath by a couple denying possession of a third party’s property. A1 and fA2, his wife, swear (tamû) by Bēl, Nabû, and the adê-oath of Cyrus, that they are not in the possession of any assets (nikkassu), possessions (būšu), goods (makkūru), or deposits (tarkuttu) belonging to B1 against whom arrears (rēhu) were charged by the Lady of Uruk, or his wife fB2. The temple had probably seized what it could from B1 but this not being enough to cover his debts, it suspected that he might have given some of his belongings A1 and fA2 for safekeeping. Names of 4 witnesses and a scribe. A1= Kiribtu/Arad-Innin, husband of fA2; fA2= fBabāya, wife of A1; B1= Kalbāya/Iqīša (//Basia), husband of fB2 and a known rent farmer (ša muhhi sūti); fB2= fBusasa, wife of B1. |
