Paraphrase | Promissory note for dates, assessed imittu rent on fields of the Judeans. B owes dates (10;3.4 kor c. 1932 liters), to be delivered in the 7th month, i.e. during the date harvest season, in what seems to be Yahud (<ina URU> ia-a-ḫa-du). The document is written on the 4th of the 5th month, about two months before the delivery date. The background of the debt is described in much detail. We learn that the indebted dates are the estimated income (imittu) from the field (eqlu) of the Judeans (Yahudaya); the field and the collection of its income are managed (ša qātē) by A. It may be assumed that B should deliver the dates to A although this is not explicitly said so in the document. Names of 5 witnesses and the scribe: Šamaš-ēreš//Marduk-mukīn-apli. A = Kanzarā, the chief of the reserve troops (rab ṣāb kutallē); B = Nīr-Yāw/(A)ḫīqam |
