Court judgement regarding animals taken from the house of Gimillu/Šamaš-aḫu-iddina//Ḫunzû by Gimillu/Innin-šumu-ibni. The former was found to be in possession of one ram, one ewe, one billy goat, and three small cattle marked with a star (kakkabtu), but justified their presence by testifying that the billy goat had been sold to him by Mušēzib-Bēl/Mušallim-Marduk, herdsman (nāqidu) of Eanna, and the ram and ewe had been placed under his care by the same (ana piqid). He is obliged to pay thirty times the price of the billy goat (1/2 mina) to Innin-aḫḫē-iddina/Nabû-būnu-sūtur//Ḫunzû. Regarding the other animals, Gimillu has until 15 Addaru to pursue a case against Mušēzib-Bēl, if not he has to pay sixty sheep to Eanna. The jury consists of Nidinti-Bēl/Nabû-mukīn-zēri//Dābibī, bishop (šatammu) of Eanna, and Nabû-aḫu-iddin, royal representative (ša rēš šarri) and commissioner (bēl piqitti) of Eanna, and the four witnesses are respectively from the Rīmānu, Šunāya, Sîn-lēqi-unninni, and Kurī-families, whilst Nādinu, Kīnāya, Murānu, and Balāṭu serve as the scribes of Eanna. |
