Paraphrase

Administrative in nature. Dated. No witnesses, no scribe.

Obligation under oath to assess imposts.

The tablet concerns 3 freemen (mār banê), A1, A2, and A3, who should go and estimate (emēdu) the unripe dates (uḫinnu) in B’s field (eqlu) in Uruk. The field is (currently) at the disposal (ina pāni) of C, the courtier (ša rēši).

A1–3 swore by (šumu ilu elû, Š) the gods Bēl, Nabû, the Lady-of-Uruk, and Nanāya to D, the supervisor (bēl piqitti) of Eanna as follows: “We will not fear (adāru) the eyes and be negligent (lit. drop the cheek, lētu nadû). We will assess (emēdu) all the dates which are to be harvested (šalāmu, nakāsu, N).”

No witnesses, no scribe.*

* The lack of witnesses and the name of the scribe suggests that the text remained unfinished. Alternatively, this may be a scribal exercise (Janković 2013 (PhD diss.), 141).

A1= Nabû-būn-šūtur/Nabû-erība//Rab-banê, freeman (mār banê); A2= Šadûnu/Bēl-ušallim//Āl-lūmur, freeman (mār banê); A3= Šamaš-iddin/Bēl-īpuš//Rab-banê, freeman (mār banê); B= Bulluṭ/Bēl-erība//Šigūa; C= Bēl-ahhē-iddin, courtier (ša rēši); D= Nabû-šarru-uṣur, supervisor (bēl piqitti) of Eanna
