Paraphrase | Guarantee against escape of temple-serfs. Penalty in case of default. The tablet records three cases of temple-serfs who bear responsibility for their colleagues. A (probably a temple-serf) guarantees (pūtu našû) for B1 and B1 (brothers) and B3 (son of B1), the temple-serfs of the Lady-of-Uruk, before (ina qātē) C1, the temple administrator (šatammu), and C2, royal supervisor (rēš šarri bēl piqitti) of Eanna. If B1–3 goes (alāku) to another place (ašar šanamma), A will have to deliver their yearly iškaru-obligation of 12,000 bricks each (i.e. 36,000). B1 guarantees for D, temple-serf (širku), whom he will deliver to C1 and C2 on the 1st of Kislīm (IX). E guarantee for A. Names of 3 witnesses and a scribe. A= Iddināya/Erēšu; B1= Kudurānu/Nanāya-uṣalli, temple-serf, brother of B2, father of B3; B2= Lâbâši/Nanāya-uṣalli, temple-serf, brother of B1; B2= Nidinti/Kdurānu (= B1), temple-serf; C1= Nabû-mukīn-apli/Nādin/Dābibī, temple administrator (šatammu) of Eanna; C2= Nabû-ahu-iddin, royal supervisor (rēš šarri bēl piqitti) of Eanna; D= Erīb-rēˀûa/Itti-Šamaš-balāṭu, temple-serf; E= Balāṭu/Kiribtu//Babutu; X9= ; |
