Paraphrase | Debt note for barley from a sharecropper A owes (ina muhhi) 13 kor of barley, the share (zittu) (due from him) for a share (zittu) in the property (makkūru) of Ištar of Uruk and Nanāya. The (collection of the) barley due is said to be at the responsibility (ša qātē) of B. A will deliver it in Ayyār (II), according to the measure (mašīhu) of the Lady-of-Uruk, at the depot (maškattu). This is apart (elat) from the payment for the fee/wages (kurummatu) of the canal inspector (gugallu). The barley due is the property (makkūru) of Ištar of Uruk and Nanāya and said to be at the responsibility (ša qātē) of B The tablet is drafted in the presence (ina ušuzzu) of C, the temple administrator (šatammu) of Eanna. Names of 5 witnesses and a scribe. A= Iqīša/Šālti-il; B= Agria/Nabû-dalā, a known chief of ploughman and a temple-serf of Eanna; C= Nabû-mukīn-apli/Nādin/Dābibī, temple administrator (šatammu) of Eanna. |
