Debt note for impost in barley (paid instead of dates).

10 kor of dates are the impost (imittu) from the plot of land (eqlu) of (šaB and had been received (našû, lit. “taken”) from (ina qātē) him by A (cf.  YOS 7, 113). They are the property (makkūru) of Ištar of Uruk and Nanāya and part of (ina) the rent farm (sūtu) of C (who had leased the license to collect rent on behalf of the temple. Apparently, A, a known temple scribe, had failed for some reason to transfer the dates to the temple storehouses. Now, the dates are converted (šupêltu, lit. exchanged) into their equivalent in barley and charged against (ina muhhiA. He will deliver the barley in Dûzu (IV) to Eanna using the measure (mašīhu) of the Lady-of-Uruk.

The tablet is drafted in the presence (ina ušuzzu) of D1, the temple administrator (šatammu) of Eanna, and D2, the royal supervisor (ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti) of Eanna.
