Paraphrase | Lease of temple land by a herdsman on a fixed-rent basis for herding temple livestock. A, herdsman (nāqidu) of the temple, asks (qabû) B, supervisor (bēl piqitti) of Eanna, and the commissioners (bēl piqnētti) of Eanna to give him (nadānu, wr. bīnamma) land (zēru) of the Lady-of-Uruk in the large estate (šīhu) of Bīt-Sîn-ašarēd, from the upper Nār-šarri to Ḫuṣṣētu-ša-Nabû-bān-ahi. A is asking the land so he could pasture (re’û) the sheep, goats (ṣēnu), and cattle (lâtu, áb.gu4hi.a) of the Lady-of-Uruk, which are at his disposal (ina pāni). He will pasture them on the low quality parts of the leased land (kaslu, kālû and gabību). In return, A will deliver to Eanna, from the parts of land that are under cultivation (bīt dulli), yearly 360 kor of barley using the measure (mašīhu) of the Lady-of-Uruk, 1 bull, and 5 sheep. B, and the commissioners of Eanna, agrees (šemû, lit. listens), and the temple animals that are at A’s disposal will graze on that land. This is apart (elat) from his outstanding balance (rēhu). Names of 8 witnesses and the scribe. A= [PN]/Nabû-šumu-iddin, herdsman (nāqidu) of Eanna; B= Nabû-šarru-uṣur, supervisor (bēl piqitti) of Eanna. |
