AO 10347

Mušēzib-Marduk/Kiribtu(//Sîn-nāṣir) purchases a house in good repair (bītu epšu), roofed (bīt ruggubi), with a doorframe in place, a door and a lock installed (sippu daltu u sikkūru kunnū) from Mukīn-zēri/Aḫḫēšāya (MZ).

The house plot is located in Uruk in the quarter (erṣetu) of Eanna (bīt Eanna), and measures 57 × 32 cubits. It is adjacent to the wide street, the thoroughfare of the god and the king, the blind alley (birīti lā āṣīti) and the house plots of Nanāya-uṣalli/Zākiru and Nabû-bēl-ilāni/Bēl-udūa (or: Nabû-bēl-ilī/Bēl-udūa, see Frame 2013 no. 12).

10 minas of silver in pieces (šibirtu) are declared (maḫīru nabû) as the purchase price. The payment is received. MZ relinquishes any future claims on behalf of his household.

Written in the presence of Nabû-ušebši, the Governor (šākin ṭēmi) of Uruk, Nabû-iqīša, the High Priest (šatammu) of Eanna, and 9 witnesses.

Scribe: Mukīn-zēri/Šākin-šumi (“writer of the tablet” šāṭir ṭuppi).

The document includes the clause concerning fingernail impressions of MZ, and the tablet is marked with them.

Purchase of a house in Uruk: A purchases a built house (bītu epšu) for 10 minas of silver in pieces (šibirtu) from B. The sold house is located in the Eanna district (erṣet Eanna) inside of Uruk. Its upper side (in the west) borders on the house of C₁ and its lower side (in the east) on the thoroughfare (mūtaqu) of the god and the king. Its upper front (in the north) borders on the house of C₂ and its lower front (in the south) on a blind alley (biriti lā aṣîti). It measures 57 x 32 cubits (28.5 x 16 m). The transaction is concluded in the presence of (ina uzuzzi) the governor (šākin ṭēmi) of Uruk (Nabû-ušabši) and the bishop (šatammu) of Eanna (Nabû-iqīša). 10 witnesses and the scribe, also defined as writer of the tablet (šāṭir ṭuppi). Fingernail impression (ṣupru) of the seller. This document is a near duplicate of BM118967.
