- Dissolution of a business partnership (harrānu). Final balance payment.
The tablet records the settlement of accounts (epuš nikkassi) for a business partnership (harrānu), carried out between A and B after the death of the first partner, C (A’s father). A takes possession (ana muhhi elû) of 6 minas and 16 shekels of silver, taken from the business assets (harrānu), and of fD1, fD2 and her son, (whose value is) calculated (manû) as 4 minas and 30 shekels of silver. This is A’s half share (ahi zitti). B takes possession (ana muhhi elû) of 4 minas of silver, corresponding to the price (šīmu) received for the harvested dates (ebūru), and of fE1, E2 and E3. This is B‘s half share (ahi zitti). The two parties agree that they have completely carried out (qatû) their settlement of accounts (epuš nikkassi). Their promissory notes (u‘iltu) are paid off (eṭēru Stat.), (what was listed in) their writing boards (lēˀu) is obliterated (pašāṭu D Stat.) and their documents (giṭṭu) are broken (hepû D Stat.). They also agree not to divide (karû) for the time being the fugitive slaves (amīlūtu) and everything else that may turn up as belonging to their business (harrānu). They hold an equal share (ahātu) in their land planted with trees (zēru zaqpu) and land under grain cultivation (pî šulpi), located at the outlet (bābu) of the Kutha canal. As long as they share this landed property, they will also jointly benefit from the yield (ebūru). The parties to the contract have taken one copy of the document each. Names of 3 witnesses and the scribe.
