Paraphrase

A sale contract for the sale of a slave in lieu of unpaid balance.

The tablet records the sale of a slave (qallu) against an unpaid balance (rēhu) of silver. Although the text is phrased as a sale contract, the “seller” was not paid, rather he covered his debt to the temple in the form of the slave.

A sales (ana kaspi nadānu) B, his slave, to the Eanna (lit. to the property, makkūru, of the Eanna) for 1 mina of silver for the outstanding balance of wool (šipātu) charged against (ina muhhi) him.

A guarantees (pūtu našû) against (suits brought by) a person acting unlawfully (sēhû) or a person having claims (pāqirānu) in respect (ana muhhi) to B.

The tablet is drafted in the presence (ina ušuzzu) of C1, the temple administrator (šatammu), and C2, the royal supervisor of the Eanna (bēl piqitti Eanna) + witnesses (mukinnu): D1, D2, D3, and D4 and the scribes (ṭupšarru) E1 and E2.
