Paraphrase | Testimony regarding the temple-serf status of a sold slave-woman. The tablet presents a deposition that was made before 7 freemen (mār banê), A1–7. B testifies (qabû) regarding fC, a slave-woman (qallatu) of D, his brother. He states that D placed (nadû) a star (kakkabtu) and a mark (arratu) on fC’s hand (rittu) and dedicated her as temple-serf (ana širkūti nadānu) to (ana) the Lady-of-Uruk. However, she was subsequently (illegally) sold (ana kaspi nadānu) to E. The text does not specify by whom. The scribe’s name is not mentioned and the witnesses are the freemen listed at the top of the tablet. A1–7 are all freemen (mār banê): A1= Nabû-šarru-uṣur, courtier (ša rēš šarri) and supervisor (bēl piqitti) of Eanna; A2= Gabbi-ilī-šarru-uṣur, royal resident (qīpu) of Eanna; A3= Nabû-šumu-ukīn/Nabû-ēṭir-napšāti//Babūtu; A4= Šullum/Ahulapia//Egibi; A5= Rēmūt-Bēl/Nabû-zēru-iddin//Atkuppu; A6= Balāssu/Rēmūt//Ileˀi-Marduk; A7= Apkallu//Nergal-nāṣir//Išparu; B= Nabû-uballiṭ/Ušallim-Marduk//Gimil-Nanāya, brother of D; fC= fHuzaziti; D= Ina-tēšê-ēṭir/ušallim-Marduk//Gimil-Nanāya, brother of A; E= Ibnāya/Nabû-ēṭer |
