Paraphrase
Sale of Iranian slaves.
The text opens with the indication of the date and place of issue: 2nd of Kislīm (IX) of Cambyses’ 7th regnal year, in Humadêšu (in Iran). A1 and A2 sold their female slaves (lamutānu) fC1 and fC2 for 2 minas and 40 shekels of silver to B, an exorcist (āšipu). The present record contains a statement made by D, the chief merchant (rab tamkāri) with respect to this sale, but its content can be interpreted in different ways. The CAD (I, s.v. idû  1b 11’, p. 26 ) translates “I know him and (i-de-eš ú from the verb idû) the silver has been received from him“ (in-na-áš from the verb našû N). According to F. Joannès (on Achemenet.com) "les esclaves sont offertes (?) à Iddinaia et l'argent lui est redonné", meaning that D intervened by claiming that he donated the slaves to B so that the sellers should pay back the silver they received from this apparently illegal sale. This interpretation is based on a reading "I bestowed  (the slave) to him (i-qí-iš2Ú from the verb qâšu), the silver has been given back to him“ (idem). The record is written in the presence of (ina ušuzzi) 4 persons: Rēmūtu and Murašû, both scribes (ṭupšarru); Habaṣīru, the scribe of the Bīt-kāṣirānu; and Narya-abigna (wr. mNi-ri-a-bi-ig-nu), the Elamite. D’s seal impression (kunukku).
