Paraphrase Receipt of silver by a royal official from the head of the Egibi family for the purchase of silver. Transfer of the money between the brothers of the parties involved. Undertaking by the official to write a confirmation of his receipt of the money.
Concerns 5 minas of medium quality of silver of which 1/8th is alloy, that A2 should (have) advance(d) to B2, district governor of Šaḫrīnu, for the purchase of dates (kaspu ša A2 šīm suluppê). The governor sent (šapāru) the debtnote (u'iltu) that had been issued against him (ina muḫḫi … e'elu) to his moneylender via B1, his brother asking him to hand over the agreed upon sum of silver to the latter (ina qātē B1 abālu Š). The present document confirms that B1, acting as proxy for (našpartu) his brother, received (maḫir) the silver from the hands of A1, brother of A2 on his orders (ina qibi). It continues by recording the governor's undertaking to issue a written confirmation (šaṭaru, n.) that he received the silver from his brother and give it to the moneylender's brother (našû-nadānu). The handing over of the document should take place in Šaḫrīnu within the next 5 months ("till the 15th of Abu [V]").
