Paraphrase Rental agreement.
A rents land planted with trees (zēru zaqpu), located along the bank (kišādu) of the Banītu-Canal, to B, C’s slave. The land belongs to A and his brother and it includes D’s half share (ahi zitti). It is located near (the land belonging to) E1 and E2, and near F’s sons and E2. The yearly fixed rent (sūtu), valid for 5 years, is established as follows: 38 Kor (6840 l) of dates, 38 loads of firewood (ḫuṣabu), 38 palm-leaf baskets (tuhallu), 38 date baskets (gipû), fibres (mangagu) and 60 darīku-vessels. The tenant will hoe (herû) the ground with a shovel (ina marri) throughout the year. He will also keep something (uncl., wr. šá maš šib tú) in good order, and dig (aṣû Š) a lower drainage canal (āṣītu) from the river bank (kišādu) to the lower bank (šēpu) of the upper canal. The parties to the contract have taken one copy of the document each. Names of 4 witnesses and the scribe.
