Detailed list of estimated imittu date yield; delivery quotas from bow land.
B1 and B2 owe a total amount (napharu) of 5;1.5 kor of dates to A, the deputy (šanû) appointed over the mares (ša urâti) who is responsible (ša qātē) for the collection of impost (imittu) from the šušānû-fields (eqel šušānê). The 5;1.5 kors are the estimated income from this impost, and B1 and B2 should deliver them in their full amount (gamru) in Yahud during the date harvest season (8th month). The debtors guarantee for each other. The dates are grown on bow-land, and the first part of the document registers in 3 columns the (i) names of 19 individuals (C1-19), (ii) the size of the share they hold in the bow-land (qaštu, 3-ta ribû = ¾, ahu = ½, ribû = ¼), and (iii) the amounts of dates each of them should deliver. The columns have no gridlines but horizontal rulings follow 13 of the 18 entries. Each entry contains the details for one individual, except in the case of C14 and C15 who are listed together under one entry. An interesting case is C18 because there are no dates (ša suluppū ianû) to be listed under his name. Hence he received the nickname Mr-Rīqān-Yāw, “Mr-Emptyhanded-Yāw”, a fictional Yahwistic name containing the root rīqu “to be empty” and the suffix –ānu to refer to a characteristic trait. This is a rare case of bureaucratic humour. Names of 2 witnesses and the scribe: Šamaš-ēreš/Marduk-mukīn-apli//Mudammiq-Adad. Cf. CUSAS 28 14 and BaAr 6 12.
