Paraphrase | Debt note for barley and dates, tithe from the freemen in Bīt-Amukanu. A owes (ina muhhi) 150 kor of barley and 150 kor of dates to the Eanna temple*. These 300 kor of barley and dates are the tithe (ešrû) of the freemen (mār banê) from the land of Bīt-Amukanu (i.e., a). This land (in southern Babylonia, stretches) from Uruk to Babylon, starting at the Takkīru-canal but not beyond the Nār-šarri, and up to the ešrû-(land) of B, the rent farmer (ša muhhi sūti) of Bīt-Amukanu who leased the license to collect tithes there on behalf of the temple. A will deliver the barley in Ayyār (II) to the Eanna temple, and the dates in Tašrīt (VII). The last clause is fragmentary (Tašrīt of 2 Camb, dates, and Bīt-Amukanu are mentioned). Names of 6 witnesses and a scribe. * Lit. to “the property (makkūru) of the Lady-of-Uruk and Nanāya”. A= Bānia/Innin-šumu-[x]// Gimil-Nanāya; B= Dihummu, rent farmer (ša muhhi sūti) of Bīt-Amukanu. |
