Litigation - Statements in court.

Verdict regarding a female who was dedicated as a temple-serf.

The tablet first presents the statement of fA, the slave-woman of B, regarding her and her children’s status. fA states (qabû) that B, her master, marked her with a star and dedicated (zakû D) her to the Lady-of-Uruk. When B died, he was inherited (arkātu leqû) by C, his brother. C then took (abākufA from B’s house, but did not deliver her to the Lady-of-Uruk (despite the fact that she was already dedicated to Eanna). During her time in C’s house, fA gave birth to 3 sons, D1D2, and D3.

E1, the royal resident (qīpu), E2, the temple administrator (šatammu), E3, the courtier and royal supervisor (ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti), and the scribes of Eanna saw the star on fA’s hand. Still,  they entrusted (paqādufA and her 3 sons (D1D2, and D3) in C’s service (ina pāni) for as long as C lives. C shall neither sell fA for silver nor marry her to a slave. Once C dies, fA (and her sons) will be transferred (pānu dagālu) to the personnel (amēlūtu) of the Lady-of-Uruk.
