Paraphrase

Two testimonies regarding a man taken from the temple. No witnesses, no scribe. Dated.

testimony 1: A1 and A2 report to B, the royal supervisor (ša rēš šarri bēl piqitti) of Eanna, in front (ina pāni) the freemen (mār banêC14 about what they saw when they entered the banquet room (bīt naptani) on 9th of Kislīm (IX) at midday (muṣalalu).

A1 and A2 say (qabû) (phrased in 1st person Pl.) that D1, the washerman (ašlāku), and D2,* the summoner/night watchman (dēkû), took away (abākuE from the table (paššūru) of the Lady-of-Uruk upon which the takkasû-cakes were being baked. They raised the alarm (ṭerdu šakānu) about it (ina muhhi).

testimony 2: F, the doorkeeper (atû) of the courthouse (dīnu), also testifies, saying (qabû) that the men (probably D1 and D2) ran (lasāmu) behind (ina kutalli) him and entered (erēbu) the ox stable (bīt alpu) while () he ran after (ina qātē) them.

Strictly speaking this is not a legal document as it lacks a list of witnesses. The scribe’s name is also lacking.

*it seems that the scribe (or less likely, the speakers) could not come up with the name of this individual.
