Paraphrase | Apprenticeship contract A gives (nadānu) voluntarily his slave C to the stone cutter (purkullu) B, who is a slave (qallu) of the crownprince (mār šarri) Cambyses, during 4 years to learn the craft of stone cutter (purkullūtu). B will teach C the craft of stone cutter. When he fails to do so, he will pay 20 shekels of silver (to the slave or his owner). When he teaches him in the 4 years the craft, … (broken off). A will provide (katāmu D-stem) C with clothes (muṣiptu). Names of 2 witnesses and the scribe. At the end of the document, after the list of witnesses, place and date, there is a fragmentary line mentioning 5 shekels of silver, the month Nisan (I) and the verb nadānu.
