Archive description

The key figure and probable holder of this archive is the bēl qašti Araltu/Hamtuˀ. It consists of eight texts, dated to 3 Cam-1 Nbk IV. They were not found in a controlled excavation. One text was written in Nippur, the others in āl(u-ša)-Bannēšāyī, the “village of the Carians”, a settlement of Carian mercenaries. The subject matter of the texts is the cultivation and taxation of holdings established on royal land and with an obvious military background, and small scale transactions in wool, dates and silver.
